We depart Cherokee yard and head south towards the Dallas Metroplex. Just north of Carrollton, ownership of the line changes to Trinity Railway Express (TRE) and 11 miles later at South Irving we turn west onto TRE’s main line to Fort Worth. SInce this is Sunday, there is no TRE service. We arrive at the Fort Worth Intermodal Transit Center (ITC) -- the Amtrak station -- just as the Heartland Flyer is getting ready to head north to Oklahoma City. Dinner is off the train tonight, so passengers head off in small groups to several local restaurants.
